Lesson 1: Basic English Grammar

Hello, and welcome to our English lessons for non-English speakers. In this first lesson, we will learn some basic English grammar.

Subject-verb agreement: The subject of a sentence should agree with the verb in number. For example, when the subject is singular, the verb should also be singular, and when the subject is plural, the verb should also be plural.

Example:
– She walks
– They walk

Pronouns: Pronouns are words used to refer to a person or thing. Some common pronouns in English are: I, you, he, she, it, we, and they.

Example:
– She is going to the movies
– They are going to the movies

Tenses: There are three types of tenses in English – Past, Present, and Future.
– Past Tense: refers to actions that have already happened. For example, “I ate dinner last night”.
– Present Tense: refers to actions that are happening at the moment or habits. For example, “She reads every day”.
– Future Tense: refers to actions that will happen in the future. For example, “They will come to the party tomorrow”.
