According to a statement by Health Minister Zweli Mkhize, as of Tuesday, the country recorded a total of 1 538 961 confirmed Covid-19 cases.
The total number of healthcare workers vaccinated under the Sisonke Protocol is 194 257.
KwaZulu-Natal recorded the most confirmed active cases with 5 785, followed by the Western Cape with 4 850 and the Northern Cape with 2 617.
The recovery rate is 95% and 1 465 204 recoveries have been recorded.
To date, 9 665 664 tests have been completed, with 16 445 tests conducted in the past 24 hours, Mkhize said on Tuesday.
Mkhize also reported a further 55 Covid-19-related deaths, of which 25 were recorded in North West, 11 in the Free State, six in the Eastern Cape, five in KwaZulu-Natal, four in Gauteng and four in the Western Cape.
This brings the total to 52 251 confirmed deaths.
“We convey our condolences to the loved ones of the departed and thank the healthcare workers who treated the deceased,” Mkhize said.
