NEW DELHI: Russia will continue to build a particularly privileged strategic partnership with India with a view to enhance and expand cooperation in all areas on a mutually beneficial basis, said a Russian foreign policy document approved by President Vladimir Putin on Friday.
The document also said Russia will place special emphasis on increasing the volume of bilateral trade with India, strengthening investment and technological ties, and ensuring their resistance to “destructive actions of unfriendly states and their alliances”.
The latest foreign policy concept was approved amid tension between Russia and the US over the Ukraine war, with the US slapping thousands of sanctions on Russia, while militarily, economically and diplomatically supporting Kyiv. India has not yet condemned the Russian invasion of Ukraine and it has been maintaining that the crisis must be resolved through diplomacy and dialogue.
“In order to help adapt the world order to the realities of a multipolar world, Russia intends to make it one of the priorities to enhance the capacity and international role of the interstate association of Brics, SCO, Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), the RIC (Russia, India, China) and other interstate associations and international organizations, as well as mechanisms with strong Russian participation,” said the document.

said on Friday, reports Surojit Gupta. “We all expect that President Putin will come to both summits. It is not yet decided and announced and will be announced in due course. But these opportunities are being regarded as serious as we wish to use these events to also to make our cooperation with India and our discussions more closer. So that is not confirmed but seriously considered,” Lukash told reporters on the sidelines of the 2nd G20 sherpas meet. India will host the G20 leaders summit in September this year. She said India’s priorities are like Russia’s such as national interest with regard to green development, increasing and restoring growth and trade and digitalisation. Lukash there has been outstanding progress by India with regard to digital public infrastructure and digitalisation similar to the progress in Russia.
