The March 2023 Energy and Utilities Africa Outlook recent report has outlined major upcoming power projects in Nigeria.
According to the report, these projects are either hydropower, transmission, or natural gas based. It also stated the major sources of power generation in Africa which includes coal, gas, hydropower and oil.
The report also stated that in Africa’s journey to reach its net zero carbon emission targets, the continent has a strong appetite for conventional fuels with natural fuels identified by many African governments as a vital “transition fuel”.
Nigeria is currently battling the usage of 4000 to 5ooo megawatts (MW) of power for both households and businesses. This has resulted in the common usage of alternative sources like diesel and premium motor spirit for generators.
