Melrose House on Brougham St has a cafe with a beautiful garden setting.
Everyone has their favourite local shop or service which they love to recommend and there is no better time to do that than now.
Some of our region’s businesses are feeling the continued effects of Covid restrictions, so we wanted to give a Shout Out.
This week it is from staff at the Nelson Mail, but we want your favourites too. So if it’s your favourite place for a caffeine fix, or a spot to do a bit of gift shopping, or anything in between, see below how you can send us your Shout Out and enter the draw for a $20 prezzy card.
We have five to give away – now that’s something to celebrate.
* Why shopping local has never been so important

Watson Automotive; 56 Quarantine Rd, Annesbrook; Ph 03 547 9090 (no website, these are a couple of old school, should-be retired mechanics); The guys are always friendly, willing to help and don’t charge the world. Very trustworthy and nothing is ever a problem. They don’t belittle you and your lack of knowledge, they just offer great service and expertise.

State Cinema; 91 Trafalgar Street, Nelson 7010; statecinemas.co.nz/
Motueka Cinema; Old Wharf Rd, Motueka; statecinemamotueka.co.nz
The cinema takes a huge hit during lockdown even in Level 2. We need to be supporting our local cinemas – imagine life in Nelson without a cinema – even if they don’t have the blockbuster films, go and see something a bit different. Recommended: the latest James Bond film opened this week and Shang Chi is an incredible film – Marvel film – a must see.
